ExtraSpace Storage Tree Planting

50 ExtraSpace Storage employees from across the nation gathered with Nevada Plants and Clark County Parks to plant trees along the parking lot and streetscape at Hollywood Regional Park. Thank you all, and thank you for your awesome tree donation!

A Letter from Gerald Miller, President of Nevada Plants:

Nevada Plants is looking for treeee-ific folks from the Sagebrush state to help us get the brown down and green up in every community of this place we call home 

Hi, I’m Gerald Miller, the nvtreeguy, the president of Nevada Plants. With our Nevada Plants Coordinator Lisa Ortega, the lvtreelady, we are always looking for tree-mendous folks to help us with the Nevada Plants mission this interesting not-for-profit corporation that helps everyone in the state of Nevada with tree planting, advocacy and education 

We are a group of boots-on-the-ground, tree-minded folks who are interested in the planting of trees, the proper care of trees, and education of proper tree maintenance through our certified arborist training and educational videos on our website www.nevadaplants.com . But also, we as a collective need to run a not-for-profit corporation and so there is a business side of doing -as Tony the Tiger would say- “Grrrrrrreat” things!

I’ve been associated with the Silver State’s tree-minded not-for-profits since 1991. I’ve served in leadership capacities for nearly ten of those years and I have seen various tree-minded folks go from being members to being the state urban and community program manager, to running for and ending up as elected officials and behind-the-scenes actors to develop landscape visions for multiple communities throughout the state of Nevada. But most of all, I have witnessed waves of volunteers planting trees in a park, down a street or in neighborhood communities and that’s why I am asking You -wherever You are- to get involved with Nevada Plants as only You know the heartbeat of your communities. So please, if these words pull at your heart strings please email me at nvtreeguy@gmail.com and we’ll discuss how you can be part of this treeemendous organization and perhaps get a tree planting or arborist training your community as we are looking for state wide representation from Austin to Yerington.

As pruning time is approaching, we’d like to share this awesome fruit tree pruning video collab with Gilcrease Orchard in North Las Vegas and NDF IRA grant funds.

Mark Cummins:

Kind, humble and talented individual Mark Cummins led many teams of landscape professionals to success. As an arborist and dedicated family and community member, he led Southern Nevada Arborist Group in several Presidency roles.

As a new member of SNAG, I fondly remember all the folks he gathered together as he listened and developed community projects. Mark was truly loved by all who knew him, and we appreciate all he has done to beautify our environment.
